THE CLAN SYSTEM
In a residential public school, the Clan System has a special relevance. Not only is each clan an autonomous unit under the care of a Clan Mistress and a Matron, it is a structured community within which girls develop great feelings of loyalty, of responsibility and of leadership.
Clan Captains and all other Student Officials in Metis are girls who have poise, confidence and the ability to take initiative. Their views are encouraged and they are given authority and responsibility. The School is divided into four Clans which compete on the sports field and in a wide variety of other disciplines such as dance, music, debating, quizzing, dramatics, amongst others.
The four Clans are named after famous ladies in their respective areas which are:-
Teresa: Named after Mother Teresa, The Nobel Prize Winner for Peace.
Sarojini: Named after Sarojini Naidu, Nightingale of India, first governor of United Province of Agra & Oudh.
Kalpana: Named after first Indian Women Kalpana Chawla to go into space.
Meera: Named after Meera Sahib Fatima Biwi, the first female judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court of India in 1989.
Clan Colours are as follows:-
The Student Council, with a representation of two girls from each class, is actively involved in decision making, along with the School Captains, in matters related to school life.
